Manchester – Remediation & Verification Strategy

Overview
Clear Environmental was instructed to prepare a Remediation and Verification Strategy for a residential development site in Manchester. The strategy was required to address residual risks identified through the site investigation and ensure compliance with planning conditions, while providing a rapid turnaround to support the development programme.
Scope
- Review site investigation data and local authority planning requirements.
- Assess the need for ground gas protection measures, controlled water remediation, and soil / human health risk mitigation.
- Develop a proportionate remediation strategy focused on residual soil risks.
- Prepare a Verification Strategy to demonstrate compliance with planning conditions.
- Deliver a clear, practical report within five working days of instruction.

Outcome
The Remediation and Verification Strategy confirmed that no ground gas protection, controlled water remediation, or additional soil / human health measures were required beyond a simple clean cover system. Remediation was therefore limited to the placement of clean cover within soft landscaped areas, providing a straightforward and cost-effective solution. The report was delivered within five working days, enabling the client to progress rapidly with discharge of planning conditions and ensuring environmental risks were appropriately managed.
